The EGEE project: A Technical Overview
Bob Jones, CERN, CHAbstract
EGEE (Enabling Grids for E-Science in Europe) aims to provide a European Grid infrastructure for the support of many application domains. This infrastructure will be built on the EU Research Network GEANT and exploit Grid expertise that has been generated by projects such as the EU DataGrid project, other EU supported Grid projects and the national Grid initiatives such as UK e-Science, INFN Grid, Nordugrid and the US Trillium (cluster of projects). EGEE is a EU funded project that involves 70 partners from Europe, Russia and the United States starting in April 2004 for 2 years. This talk will give a technical overview of the project concentrating on the areas of grid middleware developments, large-scale grid deployment and pilot applications from the physics and bio-medical domains.
