The OMII Status and Relation to EGEE
Dr Alistair Dunlop is the director of the OMII, based at The University of Southampton, UKAbstract
The Open Middleware Infrastructure Institute (OMII) is an institute of the University Of Southampton, located in the School of Electronics and Computer Science. The OMII has published a Roadmap detailing its mission and objectives and a Call for Proposals under its managed programme. For this first call, OMII has £1.5M to spend on projects to supply software and tools to the institute. See the links on the panel to the right. OMII is also soliciting middleware components for its repository. It is our intention that OMII repository will contain much of the currently funded UK e-Science software in development. This software will be evaluated and tested, with both the software and evaluation results available from the OMII repository. The OMII intends to lead the evolution of Grid Middleware through an open consultative process with major software vendors and major UK, EU and US projects.
