Fourth EGEE Conference

Pisa
Thank you to our sponsors and supporters

EGEE04 - Global and Persistent e-Infrastructure
for Scientific Knowledge in the 21st Century

The fourth and final EGEE conference took place in the stunning city of Pisa, Italy, famous for its leaning tower. It was a high profile event with keynote speakers from the European Union and Local Government as well as leading international figures in science and technology. The theme of the conference was creating and managing knowledge in the scientific community and building solutions which can be exported to industry and commerce.

Workshops brought together delegates from many different countries, providing them with the opportunity to share knowledge, experiences and discuss the future. The conference also gave members of the project the opportunity to evaluate their achievements, prepare for the final project review and plan for the next phase of the project.

The EGEE project is developing an international computing Grid infrastructure, providing scientists with major computing resources worldwide. The new gLite middleware is deployed on the EGEE infrastructure, in line with the international standards of the Service Oriented Architecture.
